What is an Educated person worth these days?

I must admit that this oil spill in the gulf, makes me wonder what a real educated person is worth these days? The person that came up with suctioning the oil up and then ship it. What would you do if a complete stranger opened a door for you, greeted you with a smile and wished you a good day?
