How to Stay as Young as Your Students

1. Throw out non essential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them!" 2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouchers pull you down. 3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle.... Sign in to see full entry.

Here’s one of those "What would YOU do" situations.

So here goes: 1. Winter camp in Seoul, Korea. Starts December 18; lasts till the end of January. 2. Go to Japan to get a visa run; return to Korea to teach for one year. I'm okay with that plan, but I am absolutely frightened about not being home for Christmas. I'm terrified of being away from... Sign in to see full entry.

Come Janua ry, I'm going to be in anoth er count ry, far away from home. The thing I'm most excit ed about, besid es the spectacular new scenery, is all the fabul ous FOOD I'm going to taste. Just as I get myself all jazzed for Korea...

...I get an offer from the United Arab Emirates - $4800 a month. Whoa, dude. Just whoa. That kind of money would definitely get me WAY out of the financial crunch I've managed to create, but does that mean I should take it? It might be well worth my time. I need to do some research. I hope I find... Sign in to see full entry.

Mission Conversion - Won to Dollar

Mission SUCCESSFUL! One thousand Korean won is equal to one American dollar and five American cents (make sense?). Calculate it from there, and BY JOVE, you've got it! So, since the average pay is 2 - 2.5 million Korean won, it would be equivalent to $2100 - 2625. MOOLAH LAH! Sign in to see full entry.

Need a little bit of assistance.

Does anyone know the best way to convert Korean won into American dollars? I'm trying to figure out what my pay would be if I worked in South Korea, and the websites I found are really confusing. Your help is greatly appreciated. I hope this blog finds everyone having a fantastic week. Keep smiling... Sign in to see full entry.

If I teach overseas...

...Looks like Asia's the way to go. Japan, China, Korea. and whatever else one can find over there. Good ol' Asia - guess you'll be seeing me soon, old chum. Get ready, you big ol' country, you. It's going to be one hell of a ride!;o] Oh, and if you're wondering why, Asia seems to offer the most... Sign in to see full entry.

Slight change of plans...

Instead of moving to another state, perhaps I could move to another country to teach English to adults. Right now I feel like a sitting duck. I'm not really making any progress, and I'm not even close to achieving the goals I've set. I'm miserable in the job I have now. Teaching in the area is... Sign in to see full entry.

Ask me how I am.

If you were to ask me how I am today, or pretty much everyday at this point in my life, I would honestly tell you that I'm okay. Not terrible, not spectacular; just okay. By day, I am a legal secretary barely squeaking by. By night, I struggle to find my place in the world. I have a bachelor's... Sign in to see full entry.
