DEPRESSION

The night shift crew often watch movies between three and four a.m. They toss in a DVD if the night allows. I don't watch them because I keep myself busy. Simply exhausted ...

I just worked three twelve-hour day shifts of which ninety-nine percent of my shift was spent walking briskly from this room to that, gathering supplies, pouring and giving medication, wound care, ensuring everyone was stable and comfortable - fed and watered. She wore her oxygen mask with disgust but her family insisted...

She was trying to die. All her strength was devoted to pulling her oxygen mask off. As her nurse made frequent rounds to peer in on her she would ensure "Sadie's" air supply was intact.
