We are up against addiction to money-hoarding. Like addicts to anything, in the heart of the addict humanity has been replaced with The Game of Numbers and currencies are the markers. Addicts only care about their game, their score growing and are freaked out by the notion of the numbers declining. Nothing to do with real need, wealth or poverty.
