THE DUEL EUGENE FIELD ~~~~~~~~~ INTRODUCTION ____________ We all know that real dogs and cats fight, but did you know that toy ones fight too? This poem tells us of two that did--- the gingham dog and the calico cat. They sat next to each other on the table. One night when everyone but the China plate and the Dutch clock was asleep, they began to argue. They scratched and bit, barked and meowed-- every minute becoming more angry.
