The Portal - Part 1

THE PORTAL © L J Aston 2007 Lucy was bedridden; tragic for one so young. Most pitied her. Struck down by a faceless virus that saw her wheelchair bound, Lucy spent day after day staring through the one window in her bedroom at the changeless vista. The same old branch always trying desperately to... Sign in to see full entry.

Day 3 at Kennel Road Studios

The big buzz at "Kennel" this morning was all about the album title. Many sensational idea's were thrown into the bickie barrell. Some favourites included "Diamond Dogs", "Mutt & the Gang", "Never mind the bullocks" (I liked this one..) "Cats in Jammers" and "You only live 9 times". The final title... Day 2 at Kennel Road Studio's

Barky and his gang of yappers cruised through their second track today. With back-up harmony's from 'The Bitches', a howler of a trio, the follow up track "Life is a Dog-Bowl" was laid in under 5 hours. "I wasn't always into yap" said Bones, (Producer), "I was more of a Blues Healer type", but Barky... Sign in to see full entry.

Barky Bark...the next big thing...

A sure fired top ten hit was released into the ether this morning when my dog Barky Bark (aka Monty) demo'd his first hit single. The lyrics were a little mundane, but there was no mistaking that commercial hit sound... And the name of this little ditty "I got the dog biscuit blues'. Stay tuned... Sign in to see full entry.

How the wind came to be

I always believed it was the wind that created the swaying of trees and the gentle flickering of their leafy foliage. I was wrong. The other day whilst gazing out my window, I noticed the palm fronds quivering ever-so-slightly. They seemed to be moving individually, responsively. First one, then the... HAPPINESS...I hope you find it...The conclusion.

Can we hold onto it? Do we have any control over it at all, or does it come and go as it pleases? Does it actually exist at all, or is it up there with Peter Pan? Things bring joy, but what brings happiness? And now for the big poser. Do we really find happiness, or does happiness find us? I recall... Sign in to see full entry.

HAPPINESS...I hope you find it...Part 5

‘I’ll just be happy if this car gets us where we’re going’. Again, not true. They get where they’re going, and there’s always something else to be unhappy about. ‘I’ll be happy if I can get rid of this headache’. Sorry. Headache gone and guess what; something else has mysteriously presented itself... Sign in to see full entry.

The Kindness of Strangers Pt 1

“Four Simple Words” One very early morning, whilst at work as an airport security screener, I was swabbing a gentleman for explosives. We started to chat. I commented on his one piece of luggage, which was a large briefcase and he said his whole life was in that briefcase. “I wish my life was in a... Sign in to see full entry.

HAPPINESS...I hope you find it...Part 4

Perhaps if you knew the outcome of your entire life and it was a good outcome, then that may be grounds for experiencing true happiness, but how many of us know that? A substantial amount of us seek out psychics and clairvoyants, with the one hope in mind that we’ll be told something that will make... Sign in to see full entry.

Grompi Wot and the Shooting Sky Diamond - Chpt 1 Pt 8

“Come on Grompi” he said impatiently, “we’d better git goin’ or we ain’t never gonna git to find the shootin’ diamond.” “Well, I wish you both the best of luck, do take care” said the deer, and with a graceful turn, she cantered away into the distance. Well the day just got better and better. The... Sign in to see full entry.
