Media Political Economic Coverage: A Baseball Analogy

Not for a moment during Obama's time at the helm have I thought that we at any point have risen out of the original recession he 'inherited.' To listen to the media, we did climb out of that recession, with a whopping 1% growth. But now it appears we are going to tumble back down into a double dip... Sign in to see full entry.

Peace Of Mind: To Know About Bruises.

Two or three days ago, I was befuddled to observe the bump on my shin at its impact point of an accident; a bruise extending further down the lower part of the leg; and a swollen ankle. I could help but think that something more had happened to me than just hitting my shin hard. A friend from church... Sign in to see full entry.

Obama Back To The Same Old Tired Ineffective Approach

450 billion dollars. That's what Obama thinks--or claims from his teleprompter--will finally allow the country to turn the corner and finally experience an economic recovery. His 'Jobs' bill is nothing but another stimulus, but even Obama has experienced enough political setbacks to know not to call... Sign in to see full entry.

Injuries Can Be More Extensive Than First Realized

Tonight I took a closer look at the leg I had injured on Friday. I had thought that there was only one area of impact--where I had hit my shin. That point is still a bump, to be sure. But below it, on the inside of the leg and above the ankle, I noticed a purple bruise about six inches long.... Sign in to see full entry.

Using The New Apartment Exercise Facility For First Time

I decided to try out the apartment complex exercise facility for the first time--having no reason to bike anywhere on an errand and being sufficiently satisfied my things in the apartment are settled and organized enough. I skipped the weight machine, because I am uncertain about what it would mean... Sign in to see full entry.

More On Post 9/11 Decade

Like the assassination of President John F. Kennedy or the death of Elvis, 9/11 (specifically September 11, 2001) is a date etched on our memories perhaps so fresh that we remember what we were doing at that time. However, there is a very important difference. We have lost some iconic figures from... Sign in to see full entry.

9/11: A New Way To Frame A Decade

Technically speaking, a decade does not begin January 1st in the year ending in "0," but January 1st on the year ending with "1." With us here in America, though, perhaps the decade that most recently passed is best marked by the date beginning September 11, 2001. To read or hear news features... Sign in to see full entry.

Could I Possibly Blame It On The Earthquake?

I was injured between 12:30 PM and 1 Pm today when I was stepping up on a small platform and reaching for a tool in my pocket at the same time. I may have been distracted by the noise of some machine failure further down the line. Next thing I knew, I had miss-stepped and fell down. When I fell... Sign in to see full entry.

Words From The Past Relevant In Today's Socio-Political Climate

This morning as I was translating from an old Danish book, I stumbled upon a passage that I feel is relevant to today, in a our sociopolitical climate. It relates to the "rich" business owners and the striking laborers. I will only mention here that the laborers of that time knew no part of a... Sign in to see full entry.

Handicapped Animals Learn To Cope

One of my neighbor's cats is a three-legged cat. She manages to get around just fine. In talking about this with a neighbor, I was reminded of a dog I once saw on a news feature story. The dog had not one, but two, limbs missing. Remaining was one front leg and a rear leg on the opposite side. The... Sign in to see full entry.
