The Picture I Paint (c)
If I could paint a picture, I would paint a landscape I saw several winters ago coming home for Christmas vacation across a South Dakota contour near Chamberlain, a town on the Missouri river. The painting is in my mind even now. My eyes retake the journey--left to right, East to West. An umbra issues from the fringes of the gilded frame to the left side of the canvas. An obscure sky looms directly above a dwelling shaded beneath trees. A dim porch light illumines the house, a replicated log... Sign in to see full entry.
