I love cheese and I have never heard of that.

It sounds like a fun time...My dad rarely took me grocery shopping. He hated it and left it to Mom.

I think one would get odd looks taste-testing all the cheeses these days! Have you ever tried gjetost? It's Danish, I think, looks like a block of peanut butter and tastes like peanut butter that's gone off. I hear it is supposed to taste like caramel.

Good Morning

I've never heard of your Dad's cheese testing but it must have been good because you loved the cheese.  We love cheese too!

There's a factory along the Oregon coast in Tillamook that makes

cheese. At one time 40+ years ago our family took a tour of the Tillamook Cheese Factory, got samples of their products, including a yummy ice cream. Maybe five years ago my local supermarket began stocking their cheeses, and recently I found half-gallon packs of ice cream. No tongue blisters for any of this. I really love these products, but good dairy means lots of fat and calories, so I limit portions.

Good afternoon

I have never heard of the tongue test, but that is pretty interesting. Your dad may have been on to something big. I love a good Stilton Blue cheese on my bacon, hard-boiled egg, and shredded cheddar cheese salad that I normally top with sliced mushrooms and fresh broccoli.
