The candy is what we call taffy pulling, and yes, still done in snow.

Re: adnohr,

I love maple syrup on anything, but it is super high-carb so I don't use it nearly as much as I'd like!

Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote about the making of maple sugar in LITTLE HOUSE IN THE BIG WOODS, and about how the kids dribbled boiled sap onto snow to make candy.

Baked omelettes are a big thing here in Quebec during Maple Syrup season. There are sugar camps catering to crowds who enjoy the gathering and boiling of the sap, mini-farms for the kids, sleigh rides, taffy pulling, then a huge meal, mostly drenched in maple syrup. It was the first time I had ever eaten eggs in syprup, and I was surprised at how tasty t was!

Good afternoon

My favorite eggs are of the scambled variety, and I love them made into an omelette with mushrooms and spinach with a side of hash browns and sausage.

My Mother bought a turkey hen alive, for Christmas. She laid 4 eggs, it being early summer in Australia. Mother kept them. There was another inside her about to be laid when Mother cleaned her after her death and Mother set those five eggs under a black hen. That hen raised them for Mother, who then bought a male bird, and that was the start of many years of turkey farming for her.
