What a deal! He cooks. If he does the clean up you are so so lucky.

I totally get it about being all cooked out! For Thanksgiving, I kept it simple at home, and delegated. And for this Christmas, I am not at home, and I am not the cook!

No need to tell me I know you can cook. Well so can I in a limited fashion. Once I

used to make cough sweets knocked a hook in the wall and threw the boiled sugar

mixture over the hook to make it pliable twisting and cutting to make the sweets.

Mind they did not last long unless airtight. They usually stuck together. Also toffee

apples. I won't keep on about it or you might want the recipe.

Good morning

Happy solstice! At some point, we all need a break from the kitchen chores. I love cooking, but there are days where I just do not feel like it. This past week I have made multiple soups. I served them with sandwiches or crackers, and the rest I froze for later use. We used to dine out several times per week, but John's recent surgery is preventing that at this time, so for now it is back to the kitchen for me. It's great that you have a housemate who loves to cook. Enjoy!

Before there was frozen ready to cook food available at the store

we all cooked "from scratch" - chopping veggies, mixing biscuits, etc. We probably ate a much healthier diet then, but quick and easy wins these days. I cook if I have to, but spending hours in the kitchen for a meal that disappears in 20 minutes seems to have lost its charm for me. I like the idea of having a man do the cooking. Seems so right, somehow.

Good Morning

Kabu, I've always liked to cook, and sometimes it's by trial and error when I follow a recipe.  I've stumbled upon some really good recipes over the years.  An all-time favorite of my family is pasta salad.  We had gone to a cook-out one summer and the lady of the house had made pasta salad.  It was so good.  I asked for the recipe and I've been making it ever since.  A friend of mine showed me how to make baked beans and I've followed her recipe for years.  It is very good and has some unusual spices in it.  We love it.  If my kids know I'm making baked beans they will come from miles around to get it.  I have other recipes that we love but these are two that come to mind this morning.  I hope you have a wonderful day and enjoy your housemate's home cooking.

Yes, you are cunning.  You are cunning in knowing when to stop cooking.  I still get in the kitchen now and then and try and end up throwing so much away because it doesn't please.
