I find it disheartening that so many religions consider their religion to be the one true religion. Each religion formed in a culture so that those living there could understand and have a way of celebrating and communicating with God, the universe, the source. It is humanity who places these restrictions. Life would be much easier if all of them did.

Interesting post.

If one ascribes to the belief that humankind is made in the image and likeness of a God, then, if, as you wrote, "mankind loves to think," it would seem that God also "thinks." If so, that opens up a lot of mental possibilities. But that wasn't your question.

I think anyone who wishes to do so can grow closer to the Divine, whatever his/her version of the Divine may be. It is intent that is paramount, perhaps. I think to not be malicious of heart, cold of spirit, and vindictive of mind may be paramount in becoming close to each person's version of a Divine.

Good Evening

I connect directly with God and I wouldn't have it any other way.  I think Church is good for a community but I never really found a place that I fit in.  I've found that different churches have different rules and I believe they are man-made.  I follow God.

I do believe and I am a Christian. I don't belong in a Church and although it wasn't the funeral Wiley had wanted for himself it was an internment of great comfort to me who sat there holding the hands of his daughter and step daughter, listening to the simple service and watching the Crows fly over. I am close to my God when I am with nature.

Re: sassyass,

I agree, we must each create our own dialogue with the God of our own heart.

Fascinating points. Religion is one of the most confusing and controversial subjects today with politics following a close second. There is always someone who will happily point out that your beliefs are wrong. It is up to each individual to believe in a higher power, and where and how they will serve Him.
