I saw your weather on our news! Here we had a windstorm this morning. A fire ensued about 10 miles away. We had dust and ash and leaves  blowing about for hours. I hope you are safe and comfy there.

Re: CCT,

A week or so ago, one of my clocks fell off the wall, and when I got to it, I had to reset it, accidentally setting it to Standard time. I just left it... It is helping me acclimatize to the change.

Re: Re: Re: Goldiec,

I found out a little while ago is that, if you simmer the bones slowly, never bringing them to a boil, you get a nice clear broth. I've tried it, it works!

Re: Re: Goldiec,

Ciel, chicken bones make the best stock and the house smells so good while they are cooking. I do the same as you and add things to my can soups.  It makes it so delicious!

Actually it has not been too bad here today we put our clocks back Sunday and I had to go and I had to get a flue jab at 7-40 am so it did make it a bit easier.

Re: Re: It is a soup day for sure. Homemade stock is the best.

I agree that adding something, anything to canned soup is for the best. I love basil in tomato soup. I add sliced mushrooms, one beef bouillon, 1/2 & 1/2, and a dash of Worcestershire to the cream of mushroom soup and serve it over egg noodles as a side dish.

We sometimes get that deep cold here in the Midwest, too, but I never

much appreciated it. These days I have to wear sweaters if it's less than about 80 degrees in the house - something to do with low thyroid. I don't go out the front door if there's ice underfoot.  I made a pot of chicken and noodles yesterday - your post reminded me it's time to dip up a bowl of it an warm it in the microwave.

The dryer is great for warming up the place. No laundry for me today.

I will be warming up the house with the oven. I am making scalloped potatoes and spicy-sweet ham. It isn't too chilly here in Pittsburgh, but it is a bit damp. I am loving the bright yellow and orange leaves everywhere I go.

Re: Goldiec,

Yes, it is definitely a soup day!  I have some chicken bones to simmer down to stock, and that also will warm and humidify the house!  I almost never eat a canned soup without altering it in some way. Adding lime, basil, and coconut milk makes just about any soup taste Thai!

A chill in the air

Ciel, it's definitely cold where you are!  I'm glad you are staying inside where you will be warm.  I like doing clothes when it's cold outside because our dryer does give off a bit more heat.  We have a vent that we open and the warm, moist air flows through the house.  This is a good day to cook!  I'm making my chicken pot pie today.  It's nippy outside today but not like at your house.  It's in the '40s but we do have rain.  I'm still enjoying the leaves and I will be sad when they all fall to the ground.  Today would be the perfect day to open up a can of soup.  I like the boxed soup too.  The kids love it.  I always try to have crackers on hand for anyone that wants soup.  I look forward to reading your posts and hearing about your snowy days.  I hope you have a wonderful day.
