I need to get out once a week and do nothing but fun things - just for me.

Re: sassyass,

Yes, we have lost a few blogit neighbors to life's ending. Remember Sally? Benzhina, too, I think. One thing I am grateful for in our community is that some of us connect in the outer world, and so word gets around, and at least sometimes, we know.

I don't remember Crabby, but Spitfire is still on my favorites list.

I see that you have been here just about as long as I have.

Posts back in the early 2000s were definitely more conversational. We actually engaged with each other back in those days, and we knew who we were talking to. I wish that Spitfire would resurface. Do you remember Crabby with her god' dang attitude throughout her posts? A few of the originals are still around. Unfortunately, I learned that Trish aka Ariala passed away a few years ago. That really shook me up. She was a #1 blogger, and she once sent me a box full of birthday gifts back in 2005. She was quite something.

Re:

Make that “lovely.”  Conversations are good if one is able to engage in them successfully. It is a shortcoming of mine.

Re:

Kabu, I did not know there used to be Blogit wars. Just the thought of that made me smile because everyone has been so nice to me. My mind cannot imagine wars erupting on this lovely site.  I can just imagine what would have taken place.

Re: Re: Goldiec,

Ciel, this is the first blog site I've ever been on.  Sassy recommended it to me.  She's been my friend for more years than I know.  I decided to check it out and see what it was all about.  I'm glad there are no heated debates now.  I'm not one for unpleasantries of any kind. I'm not even sure if I'm doing my blog the right way but I just live in Cleveland and try to share things going on around here. I'm on facebook and twitter and I've been writing for a very long time.  I think this site really is nice.

But lets never get back to the Blogit wars that errupted too often when I first came here. That was in I think 2006 and for some years after. There were of course far more folk here because there was no FB, twitter, etc.

Re: Goldiec,

When I first joined, posts got not only social hello type responses, but questions and conversations about the topic that went on for a while. There were discussions with some real depth, too. The caring and friendliness were always there, but also there were heated exchanges, disagreements, and some unpleasantries that caused people involved or just watching from the sidelines some intense feelings.

I think some people have left Blogit because it takes time to keep up one's own posting, and to read and respond to others, and they chose to apply the time and energy to other parts of their lives.

I think it is the caring, the feelings of connecting with real friends, real people that keeps us here. Some of us have actually met up in real life and confirmed those feelings.

I think one or two come, but soon get despondent> Sadly there is no free lunch on Blogit. It would be so easy to just bang out a few compliments and receive  the same.

Yes you are wonderful Ciel.

I love your post.  I've only been here a short time and I wonder the way it used to be and was there a time when it wasn't the way it is now? Was their a time when people weren't caring and friendly?

Re: Pat,

That makes sense, and I hope it's one of the improvements that stays when we are able to go out again as we used to, and meet over coffee and chat.

I think we Blogit villagers are enjoying one another's company in the

absence of those coffee house conversations or gatherings at the Senior Center where we could do the face to face.
