Re: CCT,

The more we here in the US look at our 'normal' the more it is clear we need to create a new 'normal.'  We have lived believing in the myths of our histories and heroes far too long.

Re: Annicita,

I hope your friends and family were far from the event, and are well. Life in Lebanon has been hard enough in recent years!

I read a comparison: Two tons of ammonium nitrate was used in the Oklahoma City bombing. This was 2750 tons of the same stuff.

Re: Pat,

Has your nephew's wife heard from her family?

This has indeed been an annus horribilus!

I had not heard of the explosion. I have distant relatives as well as friends there.

My nephew's wife has been terribly upset about the explosion in

Beiruit - she has family there and hasn't yet heard from all of them. It seems this old world is just suffering one disaster after another, fire, flood, hurricane, explosions... We need a week or a month or a year of nothing scary.

I suppose we must be thankful for normal these days.

Nice to get the truck up and running it is a start.

Re: sassyass,

So far all I know about my truck's a/c is that the fan was working, at best, intermittently. The cool is cool, but the fan is either on or off, no degrees--so to speak-- of a little bit or a little bit more or all the way on.

Focus at the moment is on the plight of those damaged by the blast in Beirut. But sooner or later, it will come down to the question of who thought it was a good idea to store a massive quantity of bomb-making material in such a place for such a time, to put it there, then leave it there and forget about the danger.

There must be a thing with AC's this year. Ours had an "expensive" leak.

I too was relieved to learn that it wasn't an attack. That explosion was something else.
