Yes. The neighbors here are a fairly tight knit group. Kind of a 'all for one, one for all' type thing. If I watch out for my neighbor, I am assured that they will do the same for me. If I see a vehicle pull into my neighbors house while I know she is at work, I observe what happens and notate the vehicle and any and all persons I might see. Without coming off as 'racist,' the UP has a real problem with the 'natives' who get a lot of money for simply being 'natives.' Many have a big alcohol problem.
Recently, a roving group of drunk teen 'natives' were caught breaking into a house less than two blocks down the street. A neighbor two houses down noticed that there were kids on the porch of the house. A local State Policeman told me that I was probably 'in the safest house' in the area because everyone knew about my 'huge dogs.' Other than their big mouth when someone pulls in, the chances of getting bit by them is almost nil if you aren't there to cause damage or harm. Getting bruised from them wanting you to pet them is much higher. The neighbors know that. The bad guys don't.
