Re: Annicita
Never met him - either Dan Patch or the guy who owned him. The movie was 1949, the real horse was famous in the 1920s I think - a little before my time.

What an interesting post. I like old movies, so I had to look it up and watch it on Youtube:

What an intersting time to discover Dan Patch. I can understand your feelings then. Let's hope today is good enough, and that tomorrow comes with sunshine, and any painful yesterdays can remain behind us.

Yes it was a a good move for your Mother to show that you did have someone of fame in your family. Rather inspiring I would imagine.

Your stories are always filled with details that are fascinating to read.
Thank you for sharing them with all of us. During our childhood, many things occur that can cause us to have a negative or positive impact on how we see the world. Then we become adults and make the best of each day, some with lollypops and rainbows, some a pure shitstorm. I had one of the most unstable childhoods of anyone that I have ever met. I believe that today it has made me the open-minded person that I am. I always expect the unexpected and embrace disappointment like a champ.

We remember the highs the most, the lows the least, I think. So the past looks like a country under a golden haze. Our troubles now seem so much greater than those of the child we were... but really, that child felt those troubles as keenly as what we deal with now...
Your writings of your past always make me thoughtful, inspire me to dive a little deeper.
