Re:

Thank you. I enjoy getting out to talk with others that are considering the craft. I don't know if you could actually teach someone to 'write a novella or novel,' but to talk about style and how to avoid or overcome 'writers block,' is a valuable subject.

Re: You get the best of the teaching experience as a guest author...

Agreed. When I taught Red Cross First Aid, there was always a test paper every week. When teaching the American Red Cross and American Heart CPR classes, there was a test, albeit short, every class.

These sessions are what I call 'bull sessions,' where you toss out an idea and then talk it to death. No matter what I tell them, anyone who goes on the write, will develop their own style. I hated 'word prompt' stuff, but I knew students who loved it. Everyone develops a style that works for them. It was fun.

Re:

Believe it or not, I didn't take any paperbacks in with me. I may take some on the next trip. I didn't know the type of student/adult mix I would get. Now that I have a better idea, I might next time.

You get the best of the teaching experience as a guest author...

Theory and an exchange of info - but no papers to grade.

This is so nice, and so helpful to the students. There's no school here today.
