I am so deeply sorry for your family, and for the people of Australia, and for the country in general. I understand wildfires very well. Devastating.

Yes it is really sad,it must be painful for you. Families aside the devestation and the aftermath of such a tragedy will of course remain for a very long time.

Here's to hoping that things improve in your native land. My heart goes out to you all.

The fires didn't start because they elected a Conservative (same as Republican) Prime Minister.  They haven't caused the drought....looking at the historical data it appears that this has gone on for decades.  And the fact is you don't have enough water for an increasing population.

The current Prime Minister was elected in May of last year, 8 months ago.  Before his election, there weren't any fires?

Ignition Source Bushfires can originate from both human activity and natural causes with lightning the predominant natural source, accounting for about half of all ignitions in Australia.

That's tragic.... hope 2020 brings with it an understanding that we can't exploit the gifts of nature & that we are standing at a point where we have to make amends.

It is the powerlessness that plagues us, terrifies us, breaks our hearts... But also, it teaches us to flow with the river as it goes.

Thinking of you and Wiley, of Australia, of politics surging with the worst and best of humanity around the world, of tragedies, of signs of hope and faith...  Some days it is exhausting to feel at all, some days it is the saving grace.

The pain caused by all those fires comes sharp to the mind when we

hear these individual stories. Having come from a forested area, I hate fires from the bottom of my feet up - instinctively cringe when I see someone toss a lit cigarette butt out of a moving car. The awfulness of it just seems never to end. You just stay on your soap box as long as you want to!  Crossing my fingers everyone is safe, especially your friends & family who may be in harm's way.

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear this devastating news. So much loss...human, animal, and foliage. May this area heal and regrow in the new year.

Lot of crazy people in this world...but a lot of good ones too.  Someday we'll understand.
