Thank you for your words. I am working on a short story along the lines of "The Man in the Corner Booth" along these lines. Thoughts of loss, restlessness, and maybe an inner fear that perhaps you messed up your life a lot more than you had ever realized.
I want to compile a number of short stories of at least 3000 to 10,000 words into an anthology of a common theme. I make use of certain moods to write certain themes. As you properly surmised, I am in such a state of mind right now.

Can you channel this mood, this restlessness and sense of
pending change, into a story line? I couldn't help feeling a touch of envy when you described your highs and lows for the day - it's been sweltering and oppressively hot here at the bend in the Mississippi these days. Hugs to your friend.
