Re: Pat, part two...

My fear is that the lessons of those times are not being remembered, that people living in the world today don't understand how we got here, don't consider the past all that relevant now--when it really, really is!

Re: Pat,

Yes, these foods are good for, they say, 25 years. They are also tremendously lighter if you have to take them somewhere, like camping or bugging out.

Re: Corbin Dallas,

I bought the medium size unit from Harvestright. I am pretty pleased with the product, though if I plan to get the oil-free pump sometime. The oil filtering for reuse is time consuming, and the filters don't last forever so have to be replaced now and then.

They have a referral program, so if you decide to go for it, if you will email me your actual name, email and phone, you'll get some freebies and I will get some credit towards stuff.

WW II in Color is something I really want to check out. I remember it coming out a few years ago on History, I want to say.

I've been interested in something like that (preppers do that ,too)

What is the brand and model, your positive evaluation of the unit has piqued my interest.

Yes, we've watched that show and it's very well done. And risotto sounds delicious right now.

That WW11 in color is excellent and there is some new to me footage as well. I thought that I had learned enough about that period, the end of which being my birth year, but i did enjoy this show and now i have been enjoying some books that go way back to then.

Oops, forgot half my comment. WWII in colour - I'm sure I've seen some

of those old films as black & white newsreels. They used to be shown as short subjects between halves of the Saturday afternoon double-feature. I'm thankful today's kids don't know first hand what it was like in those years - but I do not actually remember a time when there wasn't a conflict, terrorist threat or rumble of distant thunder - at least not since 9-11-2001.

I like the dehydrator idea - seems to me like an improvement over old

methods like canning, and more reliable than freezing in the event of power failures, etc.
