The only hedgehog I have ever seen has been on TV. I don't know if they're in Maryland or not.

That's alright then, you have enough to do at this time. I don't think folk want so much food when they are taking it easy , I know you won't let one of your bosses starve. A little tale I read somewhere that a woman befriended a friendly male hedgehog. In the spring he was seen courting an easy young female. The best of it was they appeared months later with some baby hogs and these little ones would. Well I assume the benefactor was lying down because the little ones would  walk all over her..I hope we do not get a frost some of our late dahlias are still not in bloom,we were lucky last year',

Embers wanted to go out yesterday, but I have not let her out since seeing an eagle overhead one day.

Marika was involved with hedgehog rescue in England, and had several wintering over at the farm each winter. She didn't try to make friends with them as their wildness is their self-defense.

Cool and good sleeping weather just around the corner! It would be nice if our porcupines had the same diet as Europe's hedghogs.

I remember when I lived in Seattle, which is a few degrees north

of the Midwest where I live now - the days were so much longer in summer and shorter in winter. It would still be dark at 8:00 when I arrived at work in the winter, and at 4:30 p.m. it would already be dark while waiting for the going home bus. But the good part is, at 7:30 while on the bus running parallel to the waterfront on the way in, we had a wonderful view of the sunrise from behind us to the east setting the Olympic mountains to the west across the sound aglow - like giant mounds of peach ice cream.

Kabu

Always enjoy your posts, dear. I like hearing about how Wiley is doing and am glad you keep us up-to-date. And it's good to know about your gardens, which are so lovely. But what of the gnomes? Have they been out partying this summer?
