I agree that you should get your money back.

After all - it's like paying to go to law school and then refusing to let you take the bar.  It's not like you FAILED.  They didn't give you a chance.

Bear in mind, however, that you do not need them to use your skills.  They are not the only church in town.

In response to Jemmie...

She says   that I frequently argued with the teachings of the religion. I don't remember ever arguing with the teachings, let alone frequently. I've asked her several times to give me examples of where I argued, but she either won't or can't. I wouldn't want to be a practitioner if I didn't agree with the teachings.

just playing devil's advocate...
what happens if you sue and are successful, will you still try to be a practitioner or will you leave the religion?

Jolly,
go for it man, guilt sucks, screw hell, we're all living on it. You will win this, do not stop, forge ahead. I sued a company and a union in Canada, twice, everybody told me to stop, I did it anyway. AND I WON TWICE!!!

I agree you are not going to hell. You put years of study into this and deserve what you expected.

Sounds like a classic "bitch move' to me
That is the weakest thing that I have ever heard, and who is she to presume to know your mind? That is one arrogant woman! Good luck.

Absolutely
let's go for it. I would love to see this situation get some publicity. Wouldn't hurt my writing career either.

I don't believe you're going to hell. After all, there are millions of churches and religions and a whole bunch of those are so void of anything half-way resembling the one true God, that it's laughable. To me they gave you the shaft and you have every right to at least get all your money back. And don't forget about the humiliation this has caused you because you were rejected. Now people everywhere know about it and some may feel that this in some way reflects on you as a person. Yeah, You've definately got a great case and every right to win. Please allow me to interview you for some publication. I'll check around and see who might be interested. What do you say? Ren
