Re: I've heard reports from scientists who study memory that explain some
Yes Pat. Perhaps I have mentioned it before . Once I went back as far as I could when I could relate to words and what I deciphered was that I did not understand what I had heard until I was a little older. The result was painful.`

p.s. The difficult challenge is to always tell it exactly the same way,
I suppose, as ancient storytellers spun their tales around cooking fires.

I've heard reports from scientists who study memory that explain some
of this tendency of ours to remember an incident one way while the other guy remembers something else. It seems each time we tell a story our brain keeps on file the latest version, but unlike peeling back the layers on an onion, the original is gone. Which is why a solid memory from childhood, if told often enough, is shaped and censored until what actually happened is anybody's guess.

Re:Bill
Just nearly all stark original Bill . No education much, but my mother always loved poetry. The only poetry I have read is Dylan Thomas. Previously I thought all poetry had to rhyme. OK>

Old British mood. Sometime, you must tell us how your style of writing poems originated, and the type's history. Excellent. I'm a student of literature as well as of the media sir.

Thank you RP I don't know if I dare post my first experience and I was such a smug looking baby. Perhaps we could see others first, that would be fun.

I remember learning in school just how much a memory can be inaccurate for eyewitness testimony. The game of Telephone is another good illustration of that...Love, and really life, in general, can be so wonderful and yet so painful.

It reminded me of how one can start a tale and by the time it makes the rounds it's not close to the original! sam

People have different experiences that effect how they remember or what they remember....what matters to one may not matter to another

Interesting thought here CCT. Talking things over with older big Sis and older cousins they remember somethings different to me.

I don't know why people recall or restate events differently. So do, most do. I liked the sweetness of your poem, flowing onward where it needed to go, like puffs of goodness.
