It does seem like many elites forget about the little person...It is amazing just how much fake news reigns. My mother's first cousin always falls for it.

Excellent post and reminder. It's pretty chaotic on Facebook these days.

Once the council workers tended to roads and odd jobs. i expect there would be plenty of odd jobs for youngsters to do , but no one wants the bother easier to just push a a few notes across the counter. Don't you get upsetting the Australian Government, and I should hide that guillotine.

Alternative facts are not the words of an open and progressive society

My hope is the pen triumphs always; bloody revolution scares me, too bloody! Thought evoking post, Kabu, thank you..

Kabu, either this is a coincidence or...

..... you may have read my latest post over in Religion and Spirituality about the Reign of Terror that replaced the King and Queen.  Whether the Queen said that or not,  about the cake,  she was probably going to lose her head.  Good old Robespierre would have seen to it.  But you are right,  the common people of France finally navigated their way between extremes of government and murderers of all stripes,  and settled down to a somewhat peaceful republic,  until Hitler invaded and took them over.  France has had more than its share of terror and bloodshed over the centuries.  The Knights Templar slaughtered,  The poor Cathars slaughtered,  the poor Huguenots slaughtered,  The Reign of Terror,  Napoleon,  Hitler..... no wonder they enjoy their wine!!!

What my French teacher told us,

and he was actually French, was that what she actually said was, "Let them eat brioche."

Brioche is a sweet bread, a bun that has been a breakfast staple for generations in France, and it is by no means a frivolous confection totally beyond the range of the common folk. Except that in those times in that place, no kind of bread was readily available, so the remark if she made it, would have been glib and insensitive, not surprising coming from a privileged adolescent. According to Mr. DiGregorio, it was her enemies who blew it up into a scandal because they wanted a scandal.

Kabu

I don't waste my time with FB. And young people doing a bit of coimmunity work for their welfare cheques? Brilliant idea...Oh, and there's absolutely no record Marie Antoinette ever said that! Marie-Thérèse, wife of Louis XIV may have a hundred years earlier! Read Antonia Fraser's book on Marie Antoinette.

A good post. When the Little poeple did become rulers in France they were not the nice gentle ones proposed by toppling and be heading all the Royalty.
