Re: RPresta,

Sounds like one of those heart-soaring moments!  I'd like to hear more of the story.

Last time Charlie and I visited Mesa Verde NP, one of our favorite places, we went down into the Cliff Palace ruins, and while we were there, a big thunderstorm came rumbling up.  It was really something, to experience the sound and fury echoing in the ruins under the cliff!

Outside of Scottsdale, AZ, Montezuma National Monument, Native American ruins of cliff dwellers. A lone eagle soared above us. Legend says the eagle appears there only to the Chief or son of a Chief. Unbeknownst to us in any way, legend later proved to be close to prophetic!

Re: FormerStudentIntern.

I love the Cloisters! I've been there three times and would happily go again.

A great prompt! Curious about the Qimby quote...would be interesting to know who and why.

I've walked the "emerald city" on a foggy morning, heard the

foghorns from ocean-going ships in the harbor, listened to peculiar damp echoes of high heels along the street, smelled the exotic fragrance of Tabu that drifted behind a tall blonde in a fur coat making her "walk of shame" one day while the rest of us in gray wool and dull and dozy as you can be before coffee turned our heads as one to gaze after her as she disappeared into silence. This shortly after moving from the backwoods and a place where they expected a definitive reply when they asked 'how are you' and rolled up the sidewalks at sunset.
