Re: CCT

Cannot win them all Naut, not like you young chaps. You know the old saying . I need nourishment not punishment.

Re: Re: Re:

Yes some eat young nettles, but I have never felt that way inclined. I suppose it is more like spinach .

Re: A

Yes I am more interested in the ones that last longest in the vase A. Although I do like a variety.

Re: Taps

No Taps it is a damned lie. When my Mum was little some boys told her to touch a bumble bee's bum saying it will not sting. It did.

Beautiful flower - whatever it is...And the supermarket drama did have an interesting ending - joy for the wallet, sad for the heart...

What a beautiful color of flower.
Were you too tender with your nettles?  I've never touched a nettle that I can remember but I once read the following.  Is it true?

Tender-handed stroke a nettle,
And it stings you for your pains;
Grasp it like a man of mettle,
And it soft as silk remains.

Re:

No I don't like that idea, it seems a bit drastic. Anyway I am mostly immune and did you know they have stinging nettle eating competitions. Also I looked on a packet of fruit gums as I try not to buy those with bovine content and what do you think they contained stinging nettles, honest.

Re: Great poem. I love your humour... the flower photo is gorgeous.

Thank you Pat, I only hope she is not there next week. Glad that you like the flower.

Re: Krisles

No K. I was thinking how easy it was to become attracted to a person, I have a job to understand how feeble minded I must be. All I can think of is that I change from Saint to Sinner very easily. I have never liked motorcycles

Re: There's a rumor that the juice of comfrey calms nettle stings.

Well we always used dock leaves and spit Ceil. I have got half a dozen comfrey plants which my sister gave me. I must try a leaf, I was waiting to see what the flower was like.

We have not been getting much rain lately either. In our case, the plant life is doing so well because we had an April of a June.

The approach can be very difficult.

There's a rumor that the juice of comfrey calms nettle stings.

She probably filched the credit card to have an excuse to get chatty.

Lovely flower!

With your poem's opening, I immediately thought of a silly Arlo Guthrie song that I have often had bubble up in my mind at the craziest of times - mostly anytime someone says the word, 'pickle'....it goes, "I don't want a pickle, I just want to ride on my motorcycle (pronounced sickle)" for the refrain of the song.  So, I had you humming that song in your head as you played cutsie with the lady....probably not what you were thinking at all, was it?

your poems Oh but they belong in a book...mother used to pour Cloudy Amonia onto any nettle stings that we got as children.

ChiffChaff

Be careful with those nettles Bro, you could wind up with a nasty infection and the poem was a corker.
