Re: Purple Purse,

I swore off fast food burgers the day I had a double patty: the bread didn't absorb the fat that ran out onto the plate, and I realized... that's a lot of fat!  Of course, they offer better choices these days, but my mouth wants the grease, the salt, the carbs...  It is hard to make those smarter choices.

I'm not sure how living on a cot affects diet.

I do know that gaining back gladly-lost weight is a great disappointment, and damaging to self-esteem: the road to depression.

I had lost 28 lbs.  It felt great.  I have gained back 8 lbs eating fast food and living on a cot.  I have been working harder than I have in a long time.  Physical work, not work work.  I have done things even I was shocked at.

Re: Pat,

It is very encouraging to at least maintain that previous loss! I lost around 5 lbs more while away, and will try to keep to that.  I am currently lighter than I have been for nearly 30 years!

Re: lovelyladymonk,

It is an understand that I think we all share, that we are here when we can be, and not to stress or weigh worths based on how often people post.  Not to worry, and no apologies are needed!

It really does, to be freed of the extra weight and of the depression that goes with it. My daughter and her husband did remarkably well on Nutrisystem, reaching their targets (losing ~30-40 lbs) in a few months and not really paying more for food than they would have spent at the store.  I tried a few meals and they are really not bad. I'd have to get used to the smaller portions, and would need to use the specific plan for diabetics.

I think it helped them, also, to have each other for real encouragement.

Congrats on taking off that extra trouble...

I'd like to lose 20, but with s l o w  metabolism, even watching the calories, I'd need to be a whole lot more active to make a dent. Guess the good news is I'm not adding back the 30# I lost about a year or so ago.

Hello Ciel...

Thank you so much for visiting me.  I must humbly apologise to you and to so many other bloggers here.  I'm afraid I haven't been as good a friend to some of you lately as you have been to me.  Please know, however, you are never out of my heart or my thoughts.

I'm working on weight issues myself.  It feels liberating, doesn't it?

May God bless you.

Re: FormerStudentIntern.

I go in phases, not really like a diet diet.  I mean, 11 years...!

Good thinking Ciel, I just stop eating as much sometimes, I think that`s probably a lazy way to lose weight though.

Ciel

Good for you - CONGRATULATIONS! Having dropped from 205 to a reasonably slim 185 since Christmas, I know how good you feel...
