Re: PP

I suppose you could eventually use a pump if the water is constant.

Re: Re: Re:Ciel

I think it is airborne Ciel, affects the potatoes very often in small gardens. I expect sprays are used to prevent it commercially.

Re: Re: Re: Taps

Yes that probably was the reason Taps I have had it occasionally but of course it is more likely inside a greenhouse.

No gardening for me this year.  Grass is all that I have planted.  I never thought about water, as I have had only a patio garden.  Now I am on well water.  We are getting enough rain to water the grass.  I will consider it when I do have to  water the grass.

Re: Re:Ciel

I suppose plenty of plants aren't affected by that particular demon in the soil.

Re: Re:

Oh.  Ok.  I think that was the year we took a three-week vacation May/June after we had the garden started.  Probably there wasn't any rain while we were gone.

Re:Naut

They don't hang around Naut. Trouble is they do not comment and that is curtains.

Re: Vermont

Damp humid weather seems to set it off and course if a neighbour suffers from it the wind can soon whisk the spores a few miles. I would have thought you would have been fairly safe from blight, which just goes to show,

Re: Pat

No good trying to set you up for a double date then Pat. Yes gardening can be frustrating as well.

Re:Ciel

I dumped the soil at the bottom of the garden. It will be suitable for something eventually. I find if things go wrong, it is better to deal with it straight away and forget it happened.

Re: Kabu

They try and flog those here K. the ordinary impatients had a bad run of disease and most firms stick to these now.I grow more small begonias for the oldies as they flower in most situations. I know I have given up on the new comers, can`t stand the stress of pleading any longer.

Gardening can be very tough at times...The window of opportunity can close very quickly.

That's too bad about the tomatoes.  It happened to me one year on a much smaller scale.  I think I had six tomato plants in my garden and every tomato had a large black bottom.  RATS!

I got a laugh or two our of the poem.

I try to welcome the new comers but few stay. Some dear writers pop back in occassionaly and one wishes they would come here more often.

The poem is priceless; getting older just doesn't make much sense to me.

now what did i planr out today...Impatiens the New Guinea variety and a cute multcolored little plant called fruit salad...can't find a picture so if mine survives will take pictures. but it is only an annual.

What a lot of work!

But it had to be done... What do you do with the blighted soil? Can it be cleansed? What an awful nuisance!

No hope of making money on Blogit. When the new comers see the pennies earned, they ran away for a change in career lol. Sorry for the loss of your tomatoes and regarding double dating it is no easy thing.

Chiff Chaff

Sad about the tomato loss but good your taxes got done. Newcomers come and some go, no big deal I'm winding down myself Bro.

Sometimes the risks involved in gardening are very disheartening.

As for the poem, I've been thinking along those same lines lately. Got to get out of that state.

I have had to rip out my whole crop of tomatoes because of the blight. I have also heard

of people taking out their whole potato crop because of it.

CCT

That poem reflects your sadness over the tomato blight, methinks, LOL...And I really haven't seen any new faces here in Blogitville...
