I guess there are pros and cons for whoever is in power in a country...over the ages it all works out I suppose. Some people prosper others lose.

One lot of my ancestors backed the wrong side way back when the Commonwealth was a fact and King Charles 1 lost his head. the family never recovered and ended migrating to Australia..well some of them anyway.

Well I must admit I was really happy when the Americans joined the war, what ever the reason. Yes not far if someone can swim across to the enemy. The next crisis, will be do we stay in Europe? Not very favourable at the moment. It is going to get warmer, usually the night frosts are a pain along now, but perhaps it is Global warming. Like your Photos.

At least here in boring Southern Omtario we've got 28C under brilliant sunshine...As to the other, it's too bad that America seems to have lost its bearings since those days...

Good thing you're not in Colorado, where they're having (gasp) snow!

And hail photos a couple days ago, the white stuff a couple inches deep on roadways.

Re: Annicita,

American isolationism began with the Monroe Doctrine. For a long time it was not impractical, considering distances and modes of travel which also limited speed of communication. By WWII, staying out of things overseas was no longer a practical possibility, and it seems to me that morality required a quicker response to the dire need in Europe. And joining the war effort probably made us stronger as a nation than holding back had done.

Yes we did go through a period of isolationism to become a stronger nation and recuperate from the Depression.
