I left one of my large jade plants on the porch instead of bringing it in before frost because I had more out there than I could find room for inside.  You should see it now that our temp has continually dropped and now is reaching for -4oF.

Re: cct

Jean there are a lot of gnats about here, they are a job to see but on a rainy day they show up more, I guess the birds have good eyesight. The walnuts we usually see in the shops come from China. I think I saw some from California, but they were quite expensive. Would you believe it there are two large walnut trees that I helped my Dad plant 60 years ago they had a preservation order slapped on them and are in the middle of a small estate. We have never seen anyone looking for walnuts, I don't think they know what a walnut tree is.

thanks for sharing that most beautiful mum.  i always love your pics.  the birds were strange and i had about the same experience sat afternoon, after playing ball with lucy i sat in a lawn chair and all of a sudden a flock of sparrows came through the yard.  they were flying up and down and ever which way like they were all after something, but i could not see anything, but then my eyes are not that good.  they went through like a wave and were gone.  we grow pecans in this neighborhood, and i wished we had walnut trees, as they are my favorite nut.

That's a beautiful flower, and my wife absolutely loves pink, so she's impressed too! And perhaps you should be thanking that flock of birds! They may have saved you all from an insect invasion . . . !

Lovely flower - beautiful color. I believe it would be quite annoying listening to a chainsaw all day. Maybe it was a bird wedding under that tree...

Re:

Mind they don't blow over your garden Pat it would need wire to hold them down probably. Yes they are quite different.

Re:

No but as Pat says they would mulch a weedy area , but it is a lot of effort we used black plastic with stones to keep it down.

Re: heh... Ciel...

You would Ciel, about half a bottle in your case. No, it does take a bit of getting used to but I am used to self torture.

heh... I expected something else when I clicked on the page...

Something with lots of legs and lots of baby things with lots of legs.

How much non-alcoholic wine does it take to get soused?

Unlike most people, I like spiders - even spider mums, LOL, though I'm not terribly fond of non-alcoholic wine! Come to think of it, I've never had any...When I was fourteen or so, I was allowed water-diluted wine with meals. When I drank the undiluted stuff later, it wasn't a big deal...

I did not know that about walnuts. As the old saying goes, we learn something new every day.

I did not know walnut leaves will inhibit plant growth. Next fall I shall collect them and use the with the mulch where I don't want things to grow... Thank you for the info! And the spider mum is entrancing.
