Re: CCT,

I also believe in letting nature take its course, though if a day comes a cat has no more purrs, or a dog looks at me with a certain look, it is time to help them let go and move on to wherever they go next. I would not choose to keep an animal sedated, who has nothing to wake up for. I don't think you are hypocritical.  Sometimes I think our culture fears death too much and will do and pay anything to postpone it. Sometimes, it is we who have to let go.

Yes I guess we all have experienced that feeling Ciel. Most on here have gone through some trauma. I probably think if a pet is ill, it is not worth keeping it alive if it has to keep being sedated. I know this is contrary to most people's feelings, but once asleep it is not much to wake to pain again. Although like a hypocrite I always have let my pets die naturally if they are not in pain.

Re: Kabu,

It would all be more depressing and overwhelming if you weren't here to pat my hand.

Re: adnohr,

It is terrible to have to choose between a pet, and what you can afford.  My daughter paid around $5000 for her dog's cruciate ligament tear repair.  If it had been my dog... I couldn't have done it.  It scares me to think what things can suddenly happen, like that.

You have my deep sympathy for where you've had to go with your pups.

Re: TAPS,

I'd have sent you the one of the big Maori guys doing Haka, but I sent that to my mom.

Re: Pat, thanks!

I will keep that image of the domino in mind.

Re: Naut,

Thanks for that reminder... quick trip to a better place!

And do, please, keep your shorts on.

Before we know it, we will be seeing snow.

It's still nice and warm here - today I could even wear my shorts, though they predict rain for later, so I probably won't take Bennie into the woods tonight...And when I notice the Great Futility Of It All, I quickly look beyond it at all that amazing, glorious mystery...

One thing about a lowered sky, you're practically forced to get

your writerly-editorly things done by deadline. And it's true - your health issues shouldn't come last on the list. You are the first domino...

Many things in this life are definitely overwhelming.  I'm sorry that you are having to deal with that now.  i got your beautiful post card and note.  Thank you so much.  That was fun.

The only thing that sounds good in your post is the snow on its way. Vet bills are expensive - I'm STILL paying off huge sums I borrowed to try to help Smooch (to no avail), and Shell out for Grump's medication on a regular basis..but it's worth it if one can manage it. Worried about YOUR health being the last on your list though.....

The clouds here have an ominous look too altho. the forecast says no snow here. Life does get one down at times I agree, especially when money for the important things of life runs short. I am sorry.
