Re: Pat,

I missed this magic last year, as I had to fly back to Olympia for 3 weeks.  I came back and night, and in the morning, opening the deck door, I was astonished! The maple tree that had been all winter twigs when I left was fully, effusively, brilliantly green!

Re: JimmyA,

I think he has been watching what Madame does and gets away with. I have seen him doing some of the same things, like basking on the railing, and regarding me as not quite as threatening as might be... She is bold but he is brave, overcoming his fear. She never seemed to have any.

Re: jeansaw,

With all the peanuts Madame skarfs down, I would think an exercise wheel would be a good idea!

Shy Guy sounds good. I'm actually somewhat surprised he comes as close as he does. We have several squirrels we feed in our yard, but none are as bold or brave. We have a one-eyed squirrel we feed that we've named Billy Bones, after a character from a '60's television show. The character was a pirate, and this squirrel looks as though he should be wearing an eyepatch over that missing eye! Aarrrggg, matey . . .

I love it when the new leaves begin to unfurl - amazing how quickly

the lawn has gone from dormant straw to bright green and in need of a trim.

sounds like we are just a little bit ahead of you with spring.  i jumped the gun because usually by now we are well into spring and headed to summer.  but the evenings are still chilly here and in the 70s day.  i have squirrels but will have to start feeding them and see if i can get them to eat out of my hand.  my neighbor put up a wheel and then stuck corn on the spokes and has fun watching the squirrels go for the corn while spinning the wheel.
