Re:Jay

Good thinking Jay, Mark would be proud of you I am sure. Not only that it was a kind thought for your family. Arthur wants me to grow some Okra. It will have to be inside.

Sometimes we read what is on our minds. When I read about the pup, I thought about the bottle I bought when Mark passed. I ended up giving it un-opened to a man in a park downtown where all the old alcoholics stay. Good luck with the flowers this year.

Re: Pat

No and if you had them for both ears you might hear things you wished you didn't. There must be a fifty percent mark up on them. I could buy the same on-line for 25% less.

The only worry is would the follow up be any good, I have found it is better to eyeball them, but then of course one needs good glasses. My brother and his wife took the offer for a chemist to examine their eyes at home. My brother is usually very astute, the glasses were expensive, (he usually payed about a pound a pair in a discount store.)

I asked his wife what they reckoned of these new ones and she said they were pretty poor. It was a bit funny, she said they could only see out of them in one part as they had a job to focus. Arthur and I had to chuckle. Arthur said he advised them not to get ones different from the bifocals.

The audiologist tried to sell me a hearing aid, said if I had one I could

hear conversations in crowded restaurants. I told him if I spent the money he was asking on a hearing aid, I couldn't afford to go to a restaurant for a couple of years...

I have not grown a beard, thank you very much--in fact, I shave every other day! When I remember.

Re: FS

Sadly no one likes their photo FS , What one imagines one looks like is far from the truth I am afraid I took this without glasses and then thought no, so I drew some on the photo. Arthur did not know how I did it.

Re: CCT

Congratulations for appearing as such a robust figure Naut. I hope it was your true self and not the other one. Now we must try and flatter the shy ladies to join the unruly mob.

Re: Ciel

I think you probably should have wrapped them in newspaper and kept them in a cool place. I would tip them out and have a look if they are soggy bad news and watch out for weevils. Yes I was embalmed a few years ago, you are welcome to join the gallery, I think you were on the previous one. I'll still like you even if you have grown a beard. Ciel if you buy some dahlia corms you can overwinter those in the same way. I look round the supermarkets for reduced bowls of bulbs it is a bit of fun.

I planted some irises in a biggish pot last fall, and left it out on the back porch.  Do you suppose they'll have frozen up and died?

I saw your picture before it got whisked away.  You look just fine, for 97, and I wonder that you can keep the ladies away!

I too don't hear what folk say in a crowd, and that stranger sounds awfully familiar as well...

You are right.  It's not much fun to be the object of an amused discussion.

The photo did not load for me, but I am gathering that it is the one in TAPS's blog, which is a great one...A lot of things going on with Archie, I see...I like how you puncutate the poem at the end with "Help!"

Hmmm . . . a tough choice indeed. Since I don't drink and don't fish, I would have to find some other excuse to get out of going to that party. And I completely understand your wanting to post every other day as opposed to every day ( that's pretty much what I do ). I believe it keeps the topics and the postings fresh . . .

Thank you, thank you.  I have grabbed it and will have my way with your picture.  LOL.
Now, I would love to hear you talk.  I'm sure you sound very British and totally different from my Missouri drawl.

I did the same thing, except I left it in her comments as I could not find a way to get it into her post.
