I feel the quality of life is so much better in small towns and such an inspiring poem could be recited and heard year after year.Hope peace is restored in Ukraine.

Yes the odds were against them but onward they rode, one cannot imagine the fervour and the biased strength of command that would have driven men into destruction. I expect I would have been left behind I think my horse would have been lame. Live to fight another day. My motto.

A grand old chap at your concert though wonder why he did not use notes.

Kabuiepie--:)

Of course I'd heard that poem in my lifetime, never knew what it referred to. Hey I quit in grade 8, you the one with edumaction, loved Keith forgetting his lines, that's me. Wonderful post even if I've been reading it for the past hour. Well watching a movie at the same time didin't help me with the Light Brigade love.

WE all pray for peace in this new and scary world.

I just wanted to stop by to let you know that my last few posts were not directed at any one here. I lost my best friend last night and it just set me off...Sorry if I hurt you in any way. Sorry that I abused the poetry spot.

These people don't even know what they're fighting about

Although it wasn't mentioned, I just have to ask: was that the same Keith Richards of Rolling Stones fame? If not, then the name was just a coincidence. If so, then it's understandable why he had trouble finishing that poem, considering all of the drugs he's taken in his lifetime . . .

My heart goes out to the people of The Ukraine as well. It is sad what is going on over there...A fun little story you got there.

Kabu

Fun story! But whatever else is going to happen there - we won't have another Crimean war, let alone charges of cavalry brigades, light or heavy, LOL. In one form or another, Russia, which keeps the bulk of its Black Sea fleet at Sevastopol, will tighten its control over the Crimea, the more so since the majority of the population is Russian anyway...

What a wonderful post.  You just get better and better at writing such interesting things to read.  Loved it.

I had a friend at Seattle Central from the Ukraine, and he was

highly insulted when I asked, because of his accent, if he were Russian. Uri was a good guy, big and bearlike, kind hearted and wonderful to office assistants and everyone. I, too, hope for peace in his homeland.
