Re: TAPS,

I added one small potted primrose to mine the other day.  Its shades of orange were irresitable!

I spent some time today in the florist section of the mart just enjoying the pretty flowers and green things.  I was so tempted to buy some, but I don't have room for any more inside and it is too cold outside.

Re: JimmyA,

I keep my head in, so the snow doesn't dump over it, from the roof.  Today things warmed up and there was a waterfall from the roof, over the deck.

Re: CCT,

I do try not to despair.  If I do, it won't be over snow, though.

The pipes thaw nicely when the morning and afternoon sun shines on that side of the house. I have learned not to panic.

Re: UtahJ,

Watch Best Buy for some good deals on better point/shooters.  I got a Canon Powershot A4000 IS with 8x optical zoom and 16 megapixels which seems to be always on a substantial sale.

I understand. I like the first few snow storms, but it gets old fast when you know there is months of it ahead...Thank you for your visit today, and you are right, I would love to have another camera. I dropped my Cannon so now I have a Samsung, just a glorified sure shot...But I dream on.

I hate winter

that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Maybe the longing for vibrant color is why so many people

wear "ugly" decorated sweaters with snowmen and Christmas trees and Santa sleighs and reindeer, etc., around the holidays. And the sweatshirts and knit cardigans are bright red and green - no bland gray or dull blue...

I have been very fortunate when it comes to my waterflow...One week later, and the ground is still covered with snow.

Oh! Ciel you must not despair we need this time to gently rest and then to blossom forth as you surely will. I suppose in the Cities the seasons are not so noticeable just cold and hot. Nonetheless I would try and get the frozen pipes thawed before it becomes worse.

Winter does have its beauty, but like you, I think I can only handle so much for so long. I too not only long for the warmer weather, but also look forward to the flowers blooming again, the return of the leaves, and the fullness of the shrubbery. But like everyone else, all we can do is hunker down, bide our time, and hope that those avalanches don't fall on our heads . . .
