Good call! Nothing worse than an itchy hat!

Ciel

I don't know why this reminds me, but it does: many years ago when we were still kids, one of my brothers took up knitting, I think from watching our Grandma - Mom wasn't too keen on it. I think he was about nine or ten at the time. He even produced a sarf if I remember correctly, but I guess the ribbing he took from the other guys made him give it up in the end...

Something about October turns my attention to needlework.

What a nice way to celebrate a birthday... Hope your wish comes true and this year is healthy, happy and just eventful enough to keep you interested.

That was fun and a nice idea to celebrate the month birthdays. I look forward to pictures of the hat and that special wool made into baskets.

Re: CCT,

A bone!  I hope it was an interesting one.  I'd have liked that, as a kid.  Maybe even now.

Crochet'd socks aren't that nice.  The crochet stitch is harder than knitting,so the socks don't feel that comfy to the feet.  I did figure out how to turn the heel, but decided to go with tube socks instead. Then, I never wore them. They were pretty, though.

I suppose one could make slippers, and slip an inner sole into them.

One should appreciate knit socks, though.  Yarn for socks is very fine, and it takes forever, and a lot of work to make them.  I've watched some of the ladies at the knitting circle making them, week after week.

We know it was not your birthday Ciel, you celebrated that earlier this month or even before, time goes so quickly. What a nice idea though to give each other a present Have you ever thought of making thick socks? My sister knitted my brother a long pair for a birthday present, he gave me a little wry smile and said better than a plant in a pot. He forgets he once gave her a massive bone for her birthday present when they were kids.
