I have seen some footage of the diaster, and it's just terrible! I feel so sorry for all of that area, and the horrendously high number of victims...

It makes me want to cry to read about, and see the photos of all of the damage being done to beautiful places in Colorado. Stay safe.

That is a lot of rain Ciel. Last year we had floods nearby and trout were swimming on the roads from nearby lakes. Sadly some would welcome rain.

Yes, my wife and I have been following the news reports about all that rain and flooding going on over there! Incredible and terrible at the same time! Meanwhile, over here in Jersey, one of our iconic shore boardwalks that had just been rebuilt following Hurricane Sandy's devastation has been burned to the ground ( 4 blocks, 30 businesses ) due to a "suspicious" fire! What the heck is going on out there? Mother Nature is really pissed off at us over something . . .

Re: Pat,
The ground is not only denuded of roots to hold it in place, it is also baked, like terracotta, so rain rolls off it: there is nothing to drink up the water. I've heard that it will be several years before this burn-scar breaks down.
There's been more rain falling to the north, and my sister just told me they are expecting more today up at Estes Park. Sky is still blue and sunny here.

Re: Adnohr,
between fires and rains, and climate shiftings-about, this scenario is likely to be the norm for a few years, at least. Come the cold of winter, I imagine there will be a lot of snow. It would be better here, if this place did not have a flat roof.

No tv. So that explains why your rain stories sound so routine...
The news has been full of the floods and rescues by chopper, something like 25" of rain in a day or two. It would be scary even if the fires hadn't made the ground so loose.
