Re: Kabu,

Thanks so much!  I love that my photos can convey that sense of being there. And now I'll be imagining you there with me, as I travel about.

Re: Naut,

This is in fact, desert country, but up this high, these are growing in the tundra zone.  So, I guess these are desert tundra flora.

I believe that cairn-building is a long tradition of mountaineers.  Perhaps it is part of the romance of the mountains, so mountaineers feel good to add a rock, to say they've been here.  It would be interesting to delve into this tradition. Maybe I will.

Beautiful, with breathtaking vistas, and I also like your shots of the local desert flora...I also find that 'impromptu cairn-building' of interest - do you know if that is an old tradition (like the inuksuk in the Arctic) or a recent one?

Re: Re: CCT,

LMAO. How do you put that on a resumé? (CV)

Re: Adnohr,

Thanks so much, Adnohr!  I spent years as a kid going through National Geographics, and I guess I absorbed the elements of a good photo--the visual balance.

Re: CCT,

I'm glad you find them worth looking at more than once!  I daresay they have all the extras arranged for... and I'm not sure I want the job of expendible, for some action scene where an unlocky sod goes over the side of the mountain.

One of Charlie's theater friends had a bit part in the new LONE RANGER movie.  He was on screen for about half a second, falling down with an arrow in his neck. He had one line...   "Arrrghhurgle...."

Re: JimmyA,

Mountaineers build these cairns... others add a stone in passing, I believe, though I didn't this time myself.  Maybe being in a vehicle made me feel less qualified.

Yes - such a beautiful place! I was thinking the same thing as Jimmy, about the rock piles. Lovely photos - you have the eye!

I had to look through all of the photos they are so interesting, I know some I have seen before, but It does not matter. Perhaps you could be an extra in the film, do the daring bits I am begining to think you are up to that.

Lovely shades of green.

Some absolutely amazing shots! And please tell me someone took the time to pile those rocks there, that they didn't arbitrarily fall there like that on their own . . .

Re: Annicita,

The road is on the far side of the ridge... too bad, I might have been able to see something, depending on where they film, from my front window!

That's awesome...can you sneak any peek at the movie scenes being filmed or too far away?
