Re Ciel no it has to be disconnected in order as it travels by wire called fiber. I would not want to use a laptop in a storm if it was connected to the mains. I suppose battery operated would not be so bad, but a bit dicey. I did have a special piece of equipment but I think it just stored projects before shutting the computer down..

You certainly did a good job writing about the storm.  I could just see Violetta scooting for under the bed.  That's what Pitiful always did.

Re: Re: Re: Kabu,

I was there only about a total of 5 days, once in the southern autumn, the second time, near Christmas.  I must have been lucky, not to get so much humidity.

From age 6-22, I lived in the eastern US, around NY/NJ and later, Ohio.  All, tropical-humid summers.  I never liked it!

Re: Kabu,

I couldn't tolerate well the high humidity.  If there's water  in the air, I prefer it to be rain!

Re: JimmyA,

Lightning is one cause, but human carelessness, I believe, tops the list.  Or maybe human-caused also includes arson. Either way, it is always a concern, especially when the lightning comes without enough rain.

It's amazing sometimes. Certain regions, right near each other, get too much rain, while others don't get enough! And apparently it's the lightning strikes that are the main causes of those massive fires out there! Rain: good . . . lightning: bad! And when we have thunder storms over here, our cats live under the bed for the rest of the night . . .

Re: CCT,

I'd have to write it down, the proper order.  Can you use a power strip that lets you turn off all outlets at one switch?

I was told not to worry over the laptop, as there is a surge protector built into the power cord. That box thing, I suppose.

We are promised thunderstorms this evening Ciel. I hope it does not come too close it is the agony of turning all the computer related switches off as one has to do ours in rotation to avoid problems afterwards. I hope we get the rain though.

I love a good thunderstorm, and that in spite of us usually losing electric power out here when the storm happens. It is as you say, dramatic, wild, and crackbangboom! No, a Harley definitely isn't foing to drown that out!!
