Re: CCT,

These are all vines that will cling to whatever they can find to cling to, but I am a little concerned that wind gusts will tear leaves off, and flowers and such, leaving the tendrils tightly clinging to whatever they have grown around.

Bedsprings... That could actually have an interesting sort of look, if you are into 'steampunk.'

Re: dancin_ grandma,

Gardens are magic! you put little hard seeds in the ground, and after a while... sprouts! stems! flowers!  I had real magic with pumpkins.  I had this unexamined notion that if you wanted a pumpkin you planted a pumpkin seed.  So I, wanting several pumpkins, planted several seeds.  I had a yard full of pumpkins!

Re: Kabu,

They are in a half-shade area, under the edge of the porch, so they will not take the brunt of the sun, and will get watered pretty much daily. I hope they will then protect some of the more shade-loving plants, too, with those lovely big leaves!

Re: Annicita,

Sons can be that way.  Mine doesn't like to water plants, says he doesn't like houseplants... Also doesn't like it if I ask him if he likes me.... Cries, Unfair!  He doesn't get that he is doing it for me, because I do like my houseplants.

Re: Pat,

I know those dust devils, kicking up across plowed fields like wind elementals! I used to drive I-90 between Olympia and Spokane regularly.

I think you will need canes or sticks of some sort, no way are you going to have anything  other  supporting  plants in windy conditions. I suppose a couple of old spring bed frames if secured safely, but not aesthetically pleasing .

It sounds like your dream garden is on the way and it will be as beautiful as you imagine it... May the temperatures cooperate and the odds be in your favor :-)  xoxoxo

it sounds really hot but if the Elephant ears and such grow

and flourish...will need watering of course, then it should be shady and beautiful.

you are having better luck than I am...my son's dog knocked over and broke one of my clay pots and my son didn't even try to save it while I was gone!

In early childhood I lived on the eastern flank of the Cascades

in Washington's desert country. They've irrigated since then, didn't look so much like desert last time I was there, but I remember there was a lot of grit in the air when the wind kicked up. Driving east into Idaho there were almost always little dust devils dancing across the wide open spaces.
