Pat

When I was still a boy, I promised myself I would never go on about my ailments (if I were ever to have any, which wasn't likely, LOL) the way assorted aunts, uncles and elderly friends of the family did - and I have been able to keep that promise, for the most part...

This has really been a graduation year for our family from youngest granddaughter graduating from preschool, clear up to nephew graduating with his Masters degree, four high school graduates and a great-nephew graduating from Bible College in Oklahoma in the midst of tornadoes.

my sister took a break at her son's graduation to go outside for a smoke and then missed it!

Pat

I'm VERY glad to hear you're okay, and that the damage was minimal!

Congratulations to your granddaughter on her graduation

Pat...

When my daughter graduated from college, we had a long wait, too, on some very unforgiving chairs.  It was done alphabetically and we paid the price for our last name....My Aunt-by-marriage came with us, and her deafness (even with a hearing aid) resulted in a few very loud "When is it gonna be H.'s turn?"...

Glad you are safe and sound Pat. I must stop talking about my pains and aches or everyone will put their two pennorth in.  I bet the old guy was pleased to meet two strangers who had not had the pleasure of discussing his ailments. Anyway lovely for you to see your Granddaughter receive her tribute. Proud moment.

You all came out of it safe and sound which is most important! No doubt the medical history you could have done without! I'm so used to going without power here, it has become pretty routine, tho' thankfully storms are not in the tornado category!! Congrats to your granddaughter!

As the saying goes, life goes on.

This graduation day will be memorable for so many reasons! Congratulations, again, to your granddaughter!

Losing power does make things quieter and I think it stills a kind of charge in the air, as well, that comes from electronics--maybe a subliminal kind of irritation in the air.  I've never kept a  TV in my bedroom for that reason.

Your comment on my blog about silence in the woods... It reminds me of a story I read years ago, called And No Bird Sings  that was about such a silent wood. It was in an anthology of vampire stories, long before Anne Rice came along, or wistful vampires began to sparkle.
