He was a hero just for enlisting and helping another military made hime a hero twice-over. My brother was killed flying for the RAF and I'm happy your dad didn't working for the RAF.

I've come to the realization that a man who may be a hero in war
may be a total, juvenile cad in the non-military aspects of life. I have a theory... but that's for another time and post.
Meanwhile, your dad may well have been both what you knew of him, and the competent, heroic guy who helped beat back Hitler's dream.

I tend to agree with everything that Naut. has written. No one who hasnt
experienced all that being part of a war entails can hope to understand. He would not have been in a facility all those years for the fun of it.

Yes! I think I can see why it's so important to you to want to find out what really happened...Even this late in the game it would be nice to know a father of whom you probably have an (understandably!) one-sided picture.
My picture of this man has changed considerably from the time you first mentioned him, and it occurs to me that he may have had experienced things in war that made it virtually impossible for him to lead a 'normal' life later, as happened to untold thousands...

Hmm' perhaps he did not get a memory back. it would be nice to find out. Maybe after all this time you will be allowed to learn what really happened.
