Lots of good advice in this one.
I love the ending.  That pension is as important as anything else.

Re: Bill

We grow the stringless variety Bill but still take the sides off with a little bean cutter.

Re: Great gardening advice, and the rhythm and rhyme make it memorable.

Thank you Pat most folk get buckets of beans eventually as they tolerate the wet weather and warmth, sometimes there is a problem with the birds picking the bloom off. I grow white flowered runner beans they do not seem to like those for some reason.

Re: Kabu

Lo Kabu this is the time of year when a greenhouse really comes into its own. I know it's not possible for you. Such a pity you had not dug the ground over in the autumn. Never mind I expect you will have plenty of time when you return.

Re:jeansaw

Lo JS a sunny day brings out the enthusiasm in us. I don't know if you get night frosts, but we had a hard one remaining this morning. I have some wallflowers in tubs they are striving to come into flower I have draped a bit of mesh over them for protection, I hope they are a bit more wiser than the daffodils.

Re: Sam

I think taste buds must differ in different countries Sam. Also plants that are native to the country naturally have a better chance of survival. I like Moss in my lawn but I am the only one.

I know what you mean on dead heading the flowers! I planted some when I moved into my rental and if I don't get them early I have nothing but a big mess on my hands! They reseed profusely and even find their way into the grass. I have never seen anything like! Now I know why they are considered weeds in other countries but a flowering plant in the USA! sam

wonderful gardening advice and so well put...I love the concept

of you leaning over the fence and giving your advice, wanted or not. You are a master gardener and poet.

I wanted to get some gardening done before I go away but the ground is frozen and there is still ice and snow around.
