Re: sam444

At least I got him thinking.  He not only has installed the smoke alarms but he has purchased two fire extinguishers, one for the house and one for his camper/trailer that they use so much.

I think you were right to get him to install the alarms! I don't believe I could live in a house without them! sam

I have one of those alarms that alert a Central system who will send the fire trucks if they can't reach me by phone. All very well, except out here in the bush most of the firemen are volunteers...and in the bars on Saturday nights. You just hope that isn't the day the fire happens....

Re: C_C_T

I would have assumed so, but now I guess I'd better ask him.

Re: UtahJay

I don't know about where you live, but here in Missouri, if you go to the nearest fire department, they will give you a new one.

We have no smoke alarm either, thanks for the reminder.

After filling the house with smoke, from a pot left on the stove,

and no alarm going off because of a removed but not replaced dead battery... and two people not noticing the smoke at all, because they were downstairs with the room doors closed... After I aired the house, we got the battery, and it is installed.
