Yes, I realize it's frustrating, but that doesn't mean one should remain silent...I think adnohr has the right attitude - one voice can make a difference...

Re: UtahJay
I notice that the opinions of Son #1 (who was in the Navy) and my nephews (who were in the Marines & Coast Guard) and grandson Peter (who is a Marine) all seem to travel in the same vein as yours. That's probably not solely due to happenstance.

I think the founding fathers wanted it that way, slow and sure. They knew moving too fast was never the right answer. We all have workable salutations, yours may be different than mine, and Annacitas may be different than both of ours. The answer is always in the mix, but when we do not talk, when we run away, when we don't even bother to look is when we get lost...Its why we are in the fix we are in. We must all come together, both right and left and understand we are a nation in the middle, or we must go back to the 1860's and start again. And yes, there will be tempers, there was in 1776 and in 1786, but after much hair pulling and name calling, we worked it out.

I don't read, watch or listen to the news....there is so much talk around me about it i dont find it necessary to do so....
I used to do that and found that the news was so depressing and scary...now I look for the bright side in things and forget what the media sponsors "feel" is important for me to know

I know it's easy to simply say "Don't let it get to you," but unfortunately, that's all I have to offer. The people who really let this stuff eventually get to them are usually the ones who end up on a roof somewhere with a sniper's rifle! You've got to focus on the "positive" and do your best to disregard the "negative."

We have waited too long to stand and speak now! I am saying nothing, I have said all I could. It is in God's hands now. Don't let it upset you. You can'tchange it now!

It is exhausting, isn't it TAPS? We should, however, never underestimate the power of one. If a solution comes to mind, display it. You never know who will maybe read it and be in the position to take it further...or it just may sway more than one reader....

Well I am sure you could wield a rolling pin Taps, but after seeing your photo, I think I would rely on Son no 1.
