Oh but this set my mind a thinkin'. as is normal when I read your posts.
I remember an olf frined once who had as my parents would say"Got Religion" and he said that he couldn't wait to get to heaven and just sit and adore his maker for a few million years. (Sounded so boring to me I was determined that"gettin'. Religion" was not for me!)

I agree with CCT
The Age of Reason created new depths of thought, but also created a certain kind of shallow in human experience. A loss of awe, of connection to something sublime, for not all, but many who turn entirely away from spirituality.

Poor Grandma at least she knew where she wanted to go.I suppose it gave her comfort in those harsh times. Not long ago Pat, in time, but how radically things have changed as folk adopt secular ideas. A kind of warmth is missing.
