He was probably gone by the time the sharks got him.  I can see how it might have been alluring to get in.   At least he gave the country material for tall tales.

What a gorgeous area! So sad on the prime minister! His disappearance makes a great example for the buddy system! Not that he might have been saved if the tide got him but there would not be mystery surrounding his disappearance! sam

Either that or he swam to New Zealand and is held up in a grass hut debating whether or not to have the sea bass wrapped in seaweed or the coconut stew for dinner!

Kabu

Didn’t see any pictures of the area or of Harold Holt but the story is fascinating. Guess he just wanted to go for a dip and it all went bad.

Kabu

Marvellous pics! And of course Mr. Holt neither drowned nor was he eaten by sharks. Instead he was picked up by a Canadian friend of his, who took him to Canada on his yacht. Here in Toronto he had a bit of plastic surgery, changed his first name to David and married his mistress, who was the reason for his 'disappearance.' And he is still living here in Toronto, slightly aged...

Thanks for the beautiful pictures

I am hours from a beach, unless we drive to New Jersey, but the waters remind me of death.  I loved them when I was a child, but lately their  grayness scares me -  pollution!  death!  I hope I didnt take away from your Blog, but that is what I saw in my mind's eye, but you get to see wide, serene. blue and green waves make love all day.

I had forgotten that happened to your Australian Prime Minister.  I remember when it was in the news.  What a way to go.
