As someone who loves being out on the water it looks like a lot of fun.

I think this is fantastic! My sons raced when they were young and they love it to this day! I think his son is very fortunate to be introduced to the sport and it will be a lifetime activity! I love it! sam

Kabu

"There is nothing- absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." (Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in The Willows)...

And I love the pictures...

I love to watch the sailboats dance like giant butterflies over water.

Spring in this area brings out the obnoxious motor craft and water skiers up on Alton Lake near the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. As one drives along the river road, there they are -- sailboats moving with the breeze. I know your Saturday watching the young sailors compete was a great soak up of fun. :)

I love being out in a boat - not so sure I'd want all the work involved in those w-end sailing fests though. You look like you were enjoying yourself in spite of the head-shaking as to why they go to so much trouble, wet chair and all!

Very interesting Kabu.  Although I suppose one does not get crocs in those places. I suppose you wanted to see the boats tearing up and down, I think one has to have engines for that. Amazing country really though, lovely experience especially if one is on holiday.

I hadn't thought about it in a long time, but Grandson Peter's Dad, my son who died more than 23, years ago was sailing his catamaran when he knew for a certainty that something was wrong with him and that his next stop was the hospital.  It was the last physical sport that he ever was able to do, but one never heard him complain about it.  He was thankful for all of the outdoors that he had loved and lived for all of his youth.

I understand they do this out on the desert with wheels for a hull, but I'm afraid that I couldn't catch the wind with an air sock.

Oh I am so glad you got to see your family and had some time away. I don't think of sailing as a real big joy either. It is a big deal here but not for me on this level. Now out on the big stuff maybe.
