I sympathize - I did that once and it resulted in a visit from the police the next morning - Ugh! Like you say, it could have been worse.

Collision
Your story reminds me of the time I rode my bicycle through the parking lot behind a car just beginning to back out.

When I saw his brake light come on, I pressed on my right foot pedal as hard as I could in hope of getting out of the way.

If he had backed up slowly, I would have gotten out of the way in time.

He did not back out slowly.

He hit my back fender, and knocked the bicycle out from under me.

I caught the bike as I fell.  I was unhurt.

As soon as he felt the impact, he braked his car.

He got out and apologized profusely.

One thing he said was "This is a hell of a way to meet".

That's the worst thing about RVs...
Parking lots, people don't like to leave you much room.  When we go to Costco, we always park as far out as we can and make an odd angle so I can just pull out forward.  Of course, not all parking lots are as big as Costcos.
